Coming soon, to a Gourd near you!
Presenting a new weekly GourdSpeak (TM) feature:
The GH Song of the Week
(Oooooohhh, Aaaaaahhhhh...)
This week's song:
Everyone's Happy
Everyone's happy 'cause everyone's free
To do what you like and to do as you please
You sit in your homes and you watch your TV's
But you're always too busy to think about me
I stood alone beneath the lonely sky
Nothing to eat as the tables passed me by
They say I'm crazy and they tell me that I lie
No-one can listen if no-one will hear
You'd rather smile than to show any fear
Everyone's happy 'cause everyone's free
To do what you like and to do as you please
You sit in your homes and you watch your TV's
But you're always too busy to think about me
Some of my friends were prostitutes and thieves
Yes they were sinners, you see different degrees
But to my Father, you're just killin' me
At least they will listen to what they hear
You'd rather smile than to show any fear
Everyone's happy 'cause everyone's free
To do what you like and to do as you please
You sit in your homes and you watch your TV's
But you're always too busy to think about me
Oh, I was beaten and blood ran down beside
With tempting to take away my pride
When it was over I allowed myself to die
So maybe you'd listen and maybe you'd hear
You'd rather smile than to show any fear
Everyone's happy 'cause everyone's free
To do what you like and to do as you please
You sit in your homes and you watch your TV's
But you're always too busy to think about me
I'll see about posting the mp3's of these songs as we go. There may be legal issues to grapple with... Feel free to post thoughts and reflections on these songs. This one (musically) has a very light-hearted and fun sound to it which gives nice a satirical effect, especially in the chorus. Think of Dr. Lavender reading Revelation to Don't Worry, Be Happy.
1 Comments:
satire. yes.
