Here It Is...

...the moment you've been waiting for! THE GOURD SPEAKS!

I'm listening to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's rendition of Country Roads. It's pretty good, if different. He wants to go home to "West Makaha, Mount Ka`ala", not "West Virginia, Mountain Mama", but I think the spirit is the same.

So much going on in the Gourd's life! Way too much to list it all since my last post. I've gone to Louisville most weekends to visit SC and have always had a wonderful time visiting with her and her family. Today was actually my first Sunday in like a month and a half back at Acklen. The sermon was really good this morning. About the wheat and the tares and how its not our job to try and separate them but rather God's in the resurrection. I wish a recording of that were put online.

Anyways. In the last week I've spent a lot of time with friends. Wednesday I went to Fido with the Geigers after church and we had a great time just drinking coffee and chatting about all kinds of stuff. Friday I hung out with GSM, and we did fun stuff, like watching SG1 episodes and on Saturday we got pizza at the Mellow Mushroom and then went to go hear some bluegrass at the Station Inn. I could tell pretty quickly that bluegrass wasn't really his thing, and the group had a rather "homogeneous" sound, so we left after the first set and played some rummy at my apartment. Still, it was nice to take in some uniquely Nashvillean atmosphere.

I've finished the Mark of the Lion series. In all honesty, the first book is the best. She goes a little Frank Peretti in the last one. But whatever.

Bleh. My life really isn't that interesting. No big insights this post. I'll post when I have something worth saying.

Peace.

join the club of boring lives, my friend. (you're doing more than i am, bah) ah well. as long as our spiritual lives aren't dull, eh?

and what's wrong with frank peretti? are you insinuating something's wrong with frank peretti? because i disagree that you think something's wrong with frank peretti.

Hey, what's wrong with Frankie?

I remember him writing cool books. Well all I really remember is the one about the door to hell or something, but I remember liking it. That and flying slugs. Hmmm.

Such strange things you say. Way too many things to list since your last post, but you won't post until you have something worth saying...

Anyways, I miss ya! ^_^

it's a conundrum. or a paradox. or a quandary. or something. yes.

and frankly, i will never understand the male love of *quote* cuteness *unquote*.

a word to the wise (and un-female): cutness is part of what attracts the ladies. a guy with a bunny/puppy/baby chicken/kitty/ect.? OMG! a guy with a *sigh* deathstar? ....eh.

....a guy with a baby deathstar? no.

...maybe if a girl was kidnapped by SW fanatics and raised by them....then maybe.

;) :P

Sorry, I didn't mean to bash Frank Peretti. What I meant by that was that in the happy ending of the third book there's a confrontation with some pagan "god" and lightning breaking trees and a woman walking on water with an angel beside her, while the thing that really drew me to the first book was that in the end the Christian triumphed by simply standing firm in her faith and loving her enemies with God's love. There's no wizz-bang lightning or anything, and in fact, she gets killed for it, but I still consider it a victorious ending, because even in a seemingly helpless death she won against Satan. That's something that I feel closer to in my own life as a Christian.
